Until I Find My Home

by David Olney

I’ve lived my life out on this road
That goes from here to God knows where
I once had a home, sweet home
And a life to live, and a love to share

Amelia was my darling’s name
And we were young and the world was ours
Sure enough, our twins were born
As alike as two peas in a pod

Down the road, a poor young girl
was likewise giving birth to twins
She died without a husband near
My wife and I took those kids in
A lonely teardrop in the sea,
I’ll search for all eternity
But I know I can’t be free
Until I find my home

The years rolled by
My songs did well
I took to workin’ on the road
A million miles of one night stands
The marriage could not bear the load
With wounded pride and broken hearts
To separate we did agree
Two kids stayed at home with her
But two kids hit the road with me

Then seven years ago my two boys decided they had to go out on their own
And find their mother and their long lost brothers
And me well I’ve been everywhere
Trying to find what’s left of my family

A lonely teardrop in the sea
I’ll search for all eternity
But I know I can’t be free
Until I find my home
Until I find my home
