Jessica Mueller is a costume designer and professor based in Nashville, TN. She teaches Costume Design, Stage Makeup, Design Audition Portfolio, and Theatre Experience at Belmont University. In addition to her work with NSF, her credits include Mad Men, The Hunger Games, and The Artist, among others.
Key to Hamlet's character arc is the division of his mind and spirit as he descends into madness. Because of how important this was to the show, the costume designers created a mask for Hamlet to wear periodically throughout the production as a physical representation of his duality and madness. The costume designer wanted the mask to stand out to the other characters, as well as the audience, to demonstrate that something was wrong with Hamlet.
