The use of the tiered set contributed to the separation the actors demonstrate in their performance of The Tempest. Our main focus for this presentation is to emphasize the color, experimental, whimsical of the set design. The set design helps with adding character to the story being portrayed. The color in this play was very vibrant. An example of this is the Pole Forest. There were multiple colors displayed in the forest and showcased the idea of “magic” in the story. The pole forest gave a whimsical approach to the set. Usually, in a forest there are green trees, grass, leaves, etc. Making the poles colorful and represent a forest gives the design a comedic approach. Some decisions made for the set design were based on the location. There is a collaboration between location and production, as the set design changes like the location.
